Intro

Keeping track of your citizen’s sentiments about city management? We built a sentiment meter for various municipalities, first of which was the municipality of The Hague in association with Centric.

Challenge

Is there a way to find out how citizens feel towards issues like waste on the street, green energy, housing, traffic or unsafe neighborhoods? Can you spot trends, or shifts on social media?

Solution

We scrape social media based on geolocation, trigger words and accounts typically associated with a municipality, such as the local police and neighborhood associations. We then apply various NLP strategies to perform sentiment analysis as accurately as possible, and detect trends and neologisms.

Result

A customized user-friendly dashboard with the matching tools and visualizations that make the massive amount of data coming in accessible and comprehensible.
