We are delighted that to announce that Textgain has been recognized as winners of the European Commission’s Large AI Grand Challenge.
The award not only recognises our commitment to advancing AI technology but also specifically supports our groundbreaking project, CaLICO – the world’s first large language model designed to detect harmful online content across all European languages.
The AI Grand Challenge is a prestigious competition for European AI developers in which 94 international companies participated. Textgain has been awarded the resources necessary to train a foundation model on the EU’s supercomputers. These resources will be used to accelerate the development of CaLICO, enabling us to refine and train the new model much faster and more effectively.
Textgain CEO, Guy De Pauw, explained: “I’m pleased for the whole team that we have been recognized as a Grand Challenge winner for CaLICO. Large language models, especially commercial ones, refuse to process toxic language. This makes it almost impossible to use them to process harmful content. With CaLICO, we are developing a language model from scratch that can process harmful content content responsibly, without perpetuating it. That’s what makes us different.” Textgain will be building and developing CaLICO over the coming twelve months, and you can keep up with our progress by visiting the project page.
